North, green Laos......

I made three excursion trip to the east border of Lao, close to Vietnam. The first one was to Xam Neua, where are located Pat Lao(party which is in charge in Laos) caves. Caves where Pat Lao most important members where hiding for many years during the war. At the moment caves are open for tourist, with very nice audio guide together with real guide(guy driving with me around town on his own moped). Different sides are located withing town borders, so you need at least bicycle to move around.

As usually in Laos, views are nice ;)

Some rice paddies..........

Some small lakes are around

Roads are not always the best..........

The monuments in Laos has a star. Red star.....

What is wrong on this picture?

Yeah........... We won with USA.......

But we still have a problem with fixing our roof properly....

Who remember that car?

The main table where decisions were made

Filters in bunkers. Currently not working off course.

After finishing the war, each member of table got a villa in front of his cave.

Tunnels

During the war, USA dropped more bombs on Laos then all bombs dropped together in Europe during the II World War. This is actually very serious danger in Laos, and you should get off beaten tracks as UXO's are everywhere. Latest research is saying that it will take next 20 years to clear Laos from UXO's. Everyday at least one person is dying because of it. Actually war in Laos(together with Vietnamese) wasn't considered as a war, as USA was sending bombers and small troops to fight with communist. Unofficially off course. Not like in Vietnam, where as we know many American soldiers have died.

And some nice views

Agriculture. So nice.

A little exhibition in front

Limestones where around

Some roads are simply stunning.

And they lead to great views.

Some are twisty, but all of them are very narrow.

Very, very narrow

As those two trucks couldn't fit there and block the road for couple of hours

What do you have in front of your house? Flowers?

Lao Stonehenge. Following the guidebook informations(I got that one for free at one of hotels), I went of from the road. Road was described as impassible in wet season. Really?
Stonehenge by it self was. Well. How to describe it? Few stones withing a forrest on a side of local road. Nothing really impressive as even the stones weren't that big. As well there is no problem to find this kind of stones around.

WOW! Really ?

Impassible road..... Well, it wasn't that easy, but I got experience in this conditions, so 10km in 1 hour went well :D

I really don't like mud on street tires !

I'm so happy after hitting the tarmac :D

Reward of traveling in North Lao!

I love those views !

So, so so so ......... Green !!!

Do you have such a signs at home?

Civilization :)

If you ever think that your house is not good enough......

Laos is a poor country. Seriously.

More strange signs around

I am motorcyclist.

This is my partner for good and bad there.

Rice paddy

Different rice colors

I do know that there are not many stories, history or whatever. A lot of photos with short description. I do believe that this is a nice way to see the blog, get interest in those places and go there by your self. Fans of history. Sorry :P
